The E-Centennial Club was conceived by a few Gov-Elect from the class of 2013-2014 in Indianapolis, Indiana during the November 2013 training session. In January 2014, at the Service Leadership Program conference in Indianapolis, the club was formed.
The Charter ceremonies took place at the Kiwanis International Convention in Chiba, Japan on July 16, 2014. The club is chartered in the Pennsylvania District.
Our Charter officers for were President Bob Raub (Pennsylvania District) and Secretary/Treasurer Brian Bell (Capital District). Directors are Jim Smith (Indiana District), Diana Keplinger (Ohio District) and Hilde Meyer (Norden District). The Charter committees & chars were: Technology Committee (Sepp Schachermayr, Austria District), Membership Committee (Serge F. Viau, Eastern Canada and the Caribbean District), Service Committee (Peter Zander, Australia District), Fundraising Committee (Gary Cooper, Carolinas District), and SLP Committee (Stephen Plank, Rocky Mountain District).
Although most of the charter members were Gov-Elect from 2013-2014 class, the membership is open to all individuals around the world.
This Centennial Internet club can be a learning experience for those wishing to understand how an internet club works, with the opportunity to then branch off and charter a new Internet or local Kiwanis Club. Service and fundraising projects may be conducted on a global and/or local scale.
Club and Board eMeetings are held using GotoMeeting. Members receive an email invitation to join the meeting with the website link. The preferred method is using a computer, laptop or tablet, however, phone access can also be used. Video cams are used sparingly to preserve bandwidth. A head set with a mic is recommended for audio. However, attendees are requested to mute their mics when not speaking. A chat line is available for all attendees to use and see.
Our Internet Club meets once per month on the 2nd Tuesday at 5 pm Eastern Time.
